Aconite

Aconite is derived from Monkshood, a toxic plant used for centuries to treat infections and also to poison arrows for hunting.

Treatment Use

Aconite is useful when any of the following are indicated:

Mental and emotional aspects

  • Anxiety and great fear
  • Feelings of doom and gloom, especially when accompanied by illness
  • A strong fear of death, the dark and ghosts
  • Agoraphobia and panic Any form of shock
  • Worry and stress about the future
  • Nightmares
  • Panic attacks
  • Vivid imagination
  • Unhappiness
  • Emotional and physical tension that drain energy from the mind and the body.

Physical aspects

  • Headaches with a hot and heavy sensation
  • Sore, gritty eyes
  • Sore nose, throat or ear problems
  • Tightness and pressure around the chest Coughs, colds and influenza
  • Sleep problems
  • Feelings of restlessness
  • Palpitations
  • Nervous twitching of the eye
  • Sunburn, when accompanied by shaking and fever.

Modalities

  • Better: for fresh air and warmth.
  • Worse: in the evening and at night.
