Belladonna

Belladonna is derived from the deadly nightshade plant, which was popular during the Middle Ages for magic rituals.

Treatment Use

Belladonna is useful when any of the following are indicated:

Mental and emotional aspects

  • Sudden anger
  • Feelings of guilt
  • Stress
  • Depression triggered by agitation
  • Sudden temper tantrums and a red face.

Physical aspects

  • All pain where there is heat, burning, redness or throbbing
  • Cold, coughs and influenza
  • Sore throats
  • Earache, made worse by getting the head wet or cold
  • Labour pains
  • Cystitis All infections that result in inflammation
  • Teething pain
  • Boils
  • Insomnia.

Modalities

  • Better: for sitting up.
  • Worse: for noise and movement .
