Silicea

Silicea is derived from the main part of most rocks and plant stems. It is also found in teeth, hair and bones. This remedy is mainly derived from quartz or flint.

Treatment Use

Silicea is useful when any of the following are indicated:

Mental and emotional aspects

  • Low self confidence
  • Fear of failure
  • Lack of assertiveness and timidity
  • Anxiety about important events
  • Exhaustion after periods of concentration
  • Performance fear
  • Obsessiveness about detail
  • Stubbornness

Physical aspects

  • Weak immune system
  • Weak nervous system
  • Slowness of healing, particularly broken bones and fractures
  • Recurrent coughs, colds and respiratory infections
  • Ear infections
  • Sore, throbbing throat
  • Swelling of glands
  • Catarrh
  • Chest infections, especially if a family history of tuberculosis
  • Boils
  • Headaches, especially if triggered by cold
  • Painful joints and bones

Modalities

  • Better: for keeping warm.
  • Worse: for cold damp weather; draughts.

Treatment Tips

A good remedy to use if an individual has low resistance to disease and is slow to recover from infection.
