Home Remedies For Burns And Scalds

Home Remedies for Burns

Plain yogurt applied to a burn will keep it cool, or you can make up a soothing poultice from honey and yogurt. Adding crushed elderberries to the poultice will make it more effective or mash the leaves of the elder with a little butter and use it as a mild cream for the affected area.

Cucumber mashed to a pulp and mixed with glycerine makes a particularly wonderful moisturising balm.

Cool the whole area with a cider vinegar splash and make sure the person who has been burned has plenty of fluids.

Try making a tea using lemon balm, which will both calm the patient and provide further pain relief.

Home Remedies for Scalds

Olive oil can bring immediate relief to a painful scald and will improve the chances of healing without blisters or scars. If you have any lavender or peppermint essential oils to hand, add these to the olive oil to help ease the stinging sensation around the wound.
